"Sciral" is pronounced starting like "science" and ending like "spiral." Sci-ral-- get it?

Science is a never-ending spiral of progress, knowledge building upon knowledge. Combining these concepts into a single word had a lot of appeal to me. I knew that some people would wonder how to pronounce it, but chose it anyway just because I liked it.

The stylized S logo is also a spiral of course. In fact, it's a particular configuration of a mathematically well-defined shape called a Fermat's Spiral (http://mathworld.wolfram.com/FermatsSpiral.html). Flip it a particular way and the center does indeed look like an S. So for the trademark mavens out there, my logo is a Fermat's spiral flipped a particular way and with a certain number of winds around it.
